RESPONSIBILITIES

Main Responsibilities

  •   Design and analyse project effectiveness.
  •   Perform final review and approvals or audits on project designs according to design principles or theory.
  •   Coordinate design effects and integration across disciplines to ensure seamless integration with current technology.
  •   Maintain project operational effectiveness.
  •  Manage the execution of project management strategy through the provision of appropriate structures, systems, and resources.
  •  Set project standards, specifications, and service levels according to organisational objectives to ensure optimum operational availability.
  •  Monitor project management efficiencies according to organisational goals to direct or redirect project services for the attainment of organisational objectives.
  •  Facilitate the availability and management of funds to meet the MTEF objectives within the project environment/services.
  •  Manage the operational capital project portfolio to ensure effective resourcing according to organisational needs and objectives.
  •  Manage the commercial added value of discipline-related programmes and projects.
  •  Facilitate the compilation of innovation proposals to ensure validity and adherence to organisational principles.
  •  Allocate, monitor, and control expenditure according to budget to ensure efficient cash flow management.
  •  Allocate, monitor, and control resources.
  •  Compile risk logs (databases) and manage significant risks according to sound risk management practice and organisational requirements.
  •  Provide technical consulting services for the operation of project-related matters to minimize possible project risks.
  •  Manage and implement knowledge-sharing initiatives (e.g., short-term assignments and secondments) within and across operations in support of individual development plans, operational requirements, and return on investment.
  •  Continuously monitor the exchange and protection of information between operations and individuals to ensure effective knowledge management according to departmental objectives.
  •  Manage the allocated resources of the sub-directorate.
  •  Facilitate sound employment relations.
  •   Quality control of the work delivered by subordinates.
  •  Advise subordinates with regard to all aspects of the work.
  •  Manage the performance and conduct of subordinates.
  •  Ensure that subordinates are trained and developed to deliver work of the required standard efficiently and effectively through the utilisation of, inter alia, knowledge management.
  •  Provide mentorship and guidance to subordinates to assist them in integrating theory and practice and developing appropriate skills.
  •  Establish, implement, and maintain efficient and effective communication arrangements in the unit.
  •  Develop and manage the work plan of the unit and report on progress as required.
REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  •   National Higher Diploma (Built Environment field) with a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a registered Professional Construction Project Manager with SACPCMP
  •   National Higher Diploma (Built Environment field) with a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a registered Professional Construction Project Manager with SACPCMP
  •   BTech (Built Environment) with a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a registered Professional Construction Project Manager with SACPCMP
  •   Honours Degree in any Built Environment field with a minimum of 6 years’ experience as a registered Professional Construction Project Manager with SACPCMP.
  •  3 years’ experience as a Construction Project Manager.
  •  Experience in human settlements development will be an added advantage.
  •  Solid proven experience in Project Planning and Project Management.
  •  Compulsory registration with the SACPCMP as a Professional Construction Project Manager on appointment.
  •  Valid driver’s licence.
  •  MS Projects experience essential.
  •  Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  •  Computer literacy is a must.
