EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND 

Honourable Siphokazi Lusithi matriculated from Lawson Brown High School in Port Elizabeth in 2003. She subsequently pursued various administration and professional development programmes through the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE), now known as Nelson Mandela University, as well as the University of Fort Hare (UFH).

She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Administration (B.Admin) degree through the University of South Africa (UNISA).

MEC Human Settlements - Eastern Cape

Honourable Lusithi served as a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature from May 2019. During this period, she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development, a position she held from 28 May 2019 to 16 August 2022.

Honourable Lusithi continues to serve as a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature and is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and the Provincial Working Committee (PWC).

She serves as the Provincial Secretary of the ANC Women’s League and is currently the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Public Works, Infrastructure and Human Settlements in the Eastern Cape Provincial Government.

In her capacity as MEC, she serves on several strategic provincial structures, including the:

· Eastern Cape Socio-Economic Consultative Council (ECSECC) Human Resource Development Council;

· Government Services and Community Infrastructure Development (GSCID) Cabinet Committee;

· Economic Sector, Investment and Employment and Industrial Development (ESIEID) Cabinet Committee;

· Provincial Infrastructure Coordination Council; and

· N2 Wild Coast Political Oversight Committee.

Honourable Siphokazi Lusithi’s political journey spans several levels of student, youth and political activism. Her involvement in student and youth structures provided a strong foundation for her subsequent political and professional career, with a particular focus on organisational development, administration, transformation and public service.

Her activism in student and youth structures saw her elected to various leadership positions, including Provincial Chairperson of the South African Students’ Congress (SASCO) in the Eastern Cape, Provincial Treasurer of the ANC Youth League, and National Committee Member of the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA).

Her professional experience includes serving as the Provincial Manager responsible for ANC conferencing, based at the ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Office, as well as serving as an Administrator of Elections at the ANC Provincial Office. Within the ANC, she has served on the Economic Transformation Sub-Committee and Social Transformation Sub-Committee of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee, contributing to policy development and organisational programmes focused on socio-economic transformation.

Prior to joining the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature as a Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) and her subsequent deployment as MEC for Social Development, she served as an Human Resources Practitioner within the ANC Caucus at the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature.

Her political and professional experience reflects a longstanding commitment to public service, organisational development and advancing socio-economic transformation in the Eastern Cape.
